Junior High Writers Workshop with Leroy Bean
Our Junior High students enjoyed two writers' workshops with poet, Leroy Bean.
During the first session Leroy performed his poetry and shared how he finds his inspiration.
At the follow-up session, he started with a look at the neuroscience behind the benefits of writing on mental health, then guided students through exercises to clear their minds, and ended with time for each student to write their own poems.

My Introduction To Poetry
I would sing a song to express my feelings
But I can’t sing
So I write
As I write old feelings go
As new feelings come in
And for once everything feels right
They don’t know what I’ve gone through
But the piece of paper in front of me does
