Lower El Students Learn About Fundamental Human Needs

Melissa and Noreen's class enjoyed a visit from a special guest to help teach them about our Fundamental Human Needs.  Four month old, Sean Hooker, was happy to join the class and help the children learn about the spiritual and material needs of all humans, including love, food, shelter, clothing, and transportation.  According to Maria Montessori, needs fall into two categories - spiritual (to do with the psychic, soul and self, the ego and the intellect) and material (survival needs).  She considered the spiritual needs to be the most vibrant, they drive humans forward, materials needs support this.  The students had fun visiting with Sean and asking questions about him!
