Two Students Selected as Honor Campers

Mercy Montessori 6th grade students, Margie Fronduti and Eliza Lucas were the recipients of the prestigious Honor Camper Award at the YMCA’s Camp Ernst. Just two percent of the nearly 3,000 attendees receive the Honor Camper designation.   Margie and Eliza were nominated by and voted upon by camp counselors for displaying the characteristics of honesty, caring, responsibility, and respect.

Margie and Eliza received traditional tin cups engraved with their name; one to take home and one that will hang in the camp’s dining hall.   Margie and Eliza were both selected for their positive attitudes and their ability to make friends at camp, traits their counselors noted are, “what Camp Ernst is all about.”    Margie’s counselor said, “I knew when you walked in the door that you had the Honor Camper spirit, you are positive and made lots of friends”.   Eliza’s counselor told her, “Your positivity is contagious, when you are happy you make others happy”.

In keeping with the honor camper spirit, Margie remarked as she hugged her friend, “I am so proud of Eliza, it was her first time at camp and there are not many people who become honor campers in their first year.”

Mercy Montessori is very proud of Margie and Eliza and are so happy that they were recognized for their joyful and peaceful spirits.
