Third Grade Students Participate in Agricultural Education Day

Mercy Montessori third grade students visited Symmes Township Park on October 9th for Agricultural Education Day (AgEd Day).   The goal of Ag Ed Day is to bring the farm to the city and teaches children about farms and sustainability.  The children rotated through a series of interactive stations where they got hands-on experience with a number of farming practices and learned about:

• Compost
• Planting and Soil
• Care of Horses
• Poultry Farming
• Protection of Honey Bees
• Beneficial and Pest Insects
• Cleaning and Spinning Wool
• Tower Gardens
• Paw Paw Trees
• and they each got to bake their own apple pie!
